Red and blue caftan

The best thing about kaftans is they are so damn comfortable, and if you’re a GenXer, comfort is non-negotiable. The second is they’re versatile. Throw one on with some silk slippers and you’re ready for a Valentine’s evening at home with Netflix. Add a belt, jewelry, and sandals, and take your look out on the town. Or pair them with Beklina clogs like I did!

If you’re thinking kaftans are only for those who lean towards bohemian style, think again. A corset belt adds shape and structure, or pair one with pants if you’re feeling extra glamorous.

Rihanna looked amazing wearing one with platforms—the photos were taken in 2016, but her outfit would look perfectly current today.

Whether you choose to stay in or go out, the drama of a kaftan will make your Valentine’s Day feel special, even if you’re staying home or hitting your neighborhood wine bar for the millionth time. Get your own below!
